Many Boone County children have food when school is session. But what about the weekends?
In early 2025, Shalom House launched its Shalom Backpack program with Stokes Elementary School. In order to address weekend food needs, Shalom began supplying Weekend Backpacks to those in need. We've now expanded that program to more Lebanon area schools and hope to continue to spread throughout Boone County.

Weekend Backpack Program
If your child has a food need on the weekends, Shalom House will help bridge the food gap for your child. Each Friday, the Shalom House will provide 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 snacks in a bag that easily fits into a child's backpack.
Register your student to begin receiving weekend backpacks through your school. Participating schools include Lebanon area elementary schools Central, Harney, Perry Worth and Stokes, as well as the Lebanon Middle School.
Simply contact your school and ask that the student be registered to the program to begin receiving the weekend backpacks. Backpacks will be given to your student every Friday before leaving school.
