Weekend
Backpack
Program

Many Boone County children have food when school is session. But what about the weekends?

In early 2025, Shalom House began a pilot program with Stokes Elementary School. In order to address weekend food needs, Shalom began supplying Weekend Backpacks to those in need.

Each Friday beginning Aug. 22, 2025, students enrolled in this program will receive 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 snacks to take home for the weekend. If this program is successful and sustainable, we will add more schools to the program.
