Many Boone County children have food when school is session. But what about the weekends?

In early 2025, Shalom House launched its our Shalom Backpack program with Stokes Elementary School. In order to address weekend food needs, Shalom began supplying Weekend Backpacks to those in need.​

Weekend Backpack Program
Currently, the Shalom House Weekend Backpack program is available at Stokes Elementary, Harney Elementary, and Perry Worth Elementary in Lebanon.
If your child has a food need on the weekends, Shalom House will help bridge the food gap for your child. Each Friday, the Shalom House will provide 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 snacks in a bag that easily fits into a child's backpack.

Register your student to begin receiving weekend backpacks through your school.

Backpacks will be given to your student every Friday before leaving school.
​
We are excited to announce that we will be extending our Shalom Backpack program to Central Elementary and Lebanon Middle School in the fall of 2026. Be sure to enroll your student when you register your student at any of the above mentioned schools.
